My client for this cake wanted a very specific replication of another cake which used real peacock feathers. I am not normally a fan of putting inedible decorations on a cake. When it's time to serve, one is then required to stop and remove the inedibles before consuming the cake. Some folks don't mind this.
She provided the accouterments for decorating. The blue ribbon rim is fondant. Everything else is from your local craft store. The feathers (sanitized) have been wrapped in floral tape before inserting them into the cake so no one would end up with a surprise bite of feathers.
The lighting here isn't great, but it looked pretty stunning in real life!
